CID Probe – A-Plus, Ken Agyapong, Corruption allegations
The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police has invited Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as Kwame A-Plus and Ken Agyapong Assin North MP to assist in the investigation of their allegation of corruption against the two deputies Chief of Staff .

The two has welcomed the call by the Criminal Investigations Department’s (CID) to investigate the corruption claims against the two presidential staffers.

A-Plus said in an interview that, the CID invitation to him was in fulfillment of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s directive to security agencies to investigate any corruption allegations against his officials. He said in an interview that“…It is the same promise that the President made that he will investigate any allegation. So he has lived by the promise that he made. If I am alleging then he is asking that it be investigated and I think that it is in the right direction. I am very happy.”  “I don’t want people to create the impression that the NPP government is chasing people who are coming out with allegations. Anybody who has any allegation of corruption should come out with it. The President will investigate it.” “I don’t think any discussion with the police will be shelved or will be secret. So let’s use the institutions,” he added.

Their comments comes barely a week after the president promised to root out corruption in his own government. The President in addressing his party supporters at the just ended National Delegates Conference held over the weekend, assure his readiness to subject his appointees to thorough corruption scrutiny. He said everyone of his appointees will be investigated if corruption allegations are made against them.

The accusations came when A-Plus took to Facebook to accuse the two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye, and Abu Jinapor of being corrupt. He described them as not only “corrupt” but “thieves, arrogant and stupid.”

Francis Asenso-Boakye subsequently rejected  the unsubstantiated corruption claims made against him and Abu Jinapor.

The Director of Communications at the presidency, Mr Arhin said Kennedy Agyepong and A Plus have been contacted to provide evidence for their corruption allegations, adding, those who make allegations of corruption should be ready to provide the evidence to back it.
Mr Agyapong also accused Communications Minister, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful of being corrupt. He alleged that Mrs Owusu-Ekuful illegally collected some monies from foreign investors.
He said although President Akufo-Addo is bent on fighting corruption, he will not jump at every allegation made against his appointees without any evidence.
“I know for a fact that as of yesterday, the CID made contact with A-Plus and Kennedy Agyapong with regard to the allegations they made against the two deputies of the chief of staff," he said.
“The era in which allegations were made against persons for making sake is over,” he indicated, adding that “the president said if you have any allegation against anybody, you should be prepared to back it up.”
Mr Arhin said the president is bent on dealing with corruption and any allegation of corruption against any of his appointees will be investigated.
But those who make the allegations should be “prepared to provide evidence,” he stressed.
