Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams Fires Christians Who are against the National Cathedral

 Some Christians who are against President Nana Akufo-Addo’s proposed National Cathedral are doing so because it is not their political party that is building it, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams has said.

he said “I’ve been here for a while, never have I seen any president say: ‘We came into office and I want to build a National Cathedral to the name of the Lord’. And you know the people fighting it? Not other religions, but it’s us, Christians. It’s us, Christians fighting it” he stated.

The Action Chapel International (ACI) founder told his congregation during the church’s second Sunday service on 11 November 2018 that he found it befuddling that Christians are the most vocal in opposing the idea of building a National Cathedral, adding that some of them are doing so purely on the basis of partisan politics.

“Somebody was asking me the other day: ‘Why are you so passionate about this National Cathedral?’ And I looked at them, and it was a believer asking me. And I said to them: ‘I’ve been here for a while, never have I seen any president say: ‘We came into office and I want to build a National Cathedral to the name of the Lord’. And hear me; at least, it is one thing he [the president] cannot will to his kids or his immediate family. At least, it’s something somebody is determined to do for the benefit of the name of the Lord and for the benefit of others and humanity, and not for himself.

“And you know the people fighting it? Not other religions, but it’s us, Christians. It’s us, Christians fighting it.

“And some of you are fighting it because it’s not your party and your president that is building it, so, you must oppose it. And some of you love your political parties and more loyal to your political parties than you are to the bible and the cause of Christ. That is where we are”, Archbishop Duncan-Williams said.

President Nana Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, 6 March 2018 unveiled the design and architecture for the National Cathedral at a brief ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre.

It would house impressive chapels and baptistery, a 5,000-capacity auditorium, grand central hall, music school, choir rehearsal and multi-purpose spaces, an art gallery, and a shop.

The president said the edifice would be an iconic centre for Thanksgiving and for worshipping God for His mercies and urged Ghanaians to support the project.

Making that a reality, however, requires the pulling down of some state institutions including residential bungalows, some of which were built five years ago that house some Supreme Court Justices.

The two major parties, the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are not in agreement over the project.

Also, the Acting General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwabena Bonfeh Jnr., has dragged the government to the Supreme Court over the matter.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams, however, wonders why there is such a fuss about building a National Cathedral when Muslims in the country have a National Mosque, which never generated any controversy at all.

“The Muslims have built a National Mosque and nobody has complained about it. But a National Cathedral, where there will be the first of its kind bible museums with the different characters in the bible being showcased where children, families, people will travel from far and near to pay and come and look; and it shall stand for God and country, as a memorial, we’ll oppose it: ‘Who is funding it? Who is giving to it? Who is financing it? Where is the money coming from?’ As if somebody has asked you for your money.

“And we’ll oppose it, even when we don’t understand it. We won’t ask the questions, we criticise things, we fight everything”, he fumed.

Archbishop Duncan-Williams, who is billed to have a Convention in Accra soon, said Christians have become too critical of even the things meant for the progress of the Kingdom of God than non-Christians.

Citing an example to buttress his point, he said: “At this [forthcoming] Convention, there’s a singer coming. I’ve heard of him. I’ve never seen him before. And a Muslim friend of mine said to one of my daughters in the church: ‘Ask Papa if he’s interested in having this singer?’ So, I googled him. The guy is good. And I said: ‘How much will he charge?’ And they mentioned some serious figures in dollars. And I said: ‘I haven’t budgeted for that, so, I don’t know if I can do it’. And this guy [the Muslim friend] told the sister in my church, who is one of my spiritual daughters; he said: ‘Tell Papa not to worry about the money. If he wants to have the guy I’ll pay for it’. And this is not a Christian.

“And Christians are sitting down and all we do is criticise. Be critical over everything. There are Christians who don’t care about the cause of Christ.

“There are Christians [that] if they go to a secret meeting and they hear that there is a plan against my life, they will keep quiet and not tell me because they don’t want to lose their job. And they’ll watch me fall into a trap because they love their position, they love their names, they love their image than they love the cause of Christ.

“But you know something, you won’t live forever. It doesn’t matter how long you live, there will come a day when all of us will stand before Christ and our motives and the reasons for which we lived, everything will be played to us like you see me on the screen. Your life will be played back for you and it is not God that will judge you; your works will judge you. On that day we would know what you lived for”, he noted.

Dr Nyaho Tamakloe fires Anas & tiger eye PI

Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe wants Ghanaians to treat with contempt, undercover reports coming from Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team. Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe insists Anas Aremeyaw Anas is a dishonest person who does not have the interest of Ghanaians at heart in relation to his work as an investigative journalist.

 The elder statesman says he is convinced that, investigative pieces from the camp of the celebrated journalist are enveloped with lies as has been alleged by some critics including Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong. He maintains Anas can easily be compromised since his documentaries, such as the famous Number 12 which exposes alleged corruption in Ghana football, are first seen by government officials and even the prime suspects before they are shown to the general public.

In an exclusive interview with newswiregh.com, the statesman once again, criticised Anas Aremeyaw Anas for allowing president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Presidents have the first view of his Number 12 documentary saying it was a wrong move.

“I still insist that none of the people who saw the tape should have seen it before it came out. That particular Number 12, I am told, was also seen by the past presidents; President Rawlings, President Kufuor, President Mahama and then it was seen by the current president, President Akufo-Addo. I believe strongly it’s totally wrong and nobody can change my mind about that,” Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe maintained. 

The former GFA Chairman’s comments follow claims by Kwesi Nyantakyi’s wife, Christine-Marie that her husband parted with a whopping $100,000 in a bid to stop the screening of the investigative piece. 

Speaking for the first time on her husband’s Fifa lifetime ban and his exit from the Ghana Football Association as President, Mrs. Nyantakyi said her husband, after seeing excerpts of the video, paid some persons who told him they could stop the screening of the documentary for an amount of $150,000. 

“Apparently, we became so desperate when we realized that all that they presented to us were false, so we tried to make some interventions, and they proposed that he pays some money. They proposed $150,000; my husband couldn’t afford it, so he gave out $100,000 dollars, and they came back to him and said the person says you need to add $50,000, and he said well, I don’t have it; that’s all that I have,” Mrs. Nyantakyi disclosed in an interview on November 6th edition of Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana. According to Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, these revelations from Kwesi Nyantakyi’s wife affirm his earlier assertions that Anas Aremeyaw Anas may not be as credible as many people think. 

He strongly believes the Number 12 documentary would have been covered up if the former GFA President was able to settle the $150,000 demand. 

“Nyantakyi’s wife has just told us that they had the chance to view the tape six months before it was shown to the general public. Maybe if Nyantakyi had been able to meet their demands. Whatever demand it is I am not interested in that, this case might have gone under water and nobody might have heard anything about it,” Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe reiterates. 

He adds, “I personally will not believe that the work that Anas is doing is an honest work in the interest of Ghanaians. To me, this has come to support my claim that what he is doing is shrouded with a lot lot lot of lies.” 

Teenage boy kills mum, had sex with her corpse for money ritual

 

An 18-year-old boy has killed his mother and had sex with her corpse in their rented apartment at  Edo State, on Monday, in a bid to get rich quickly.

 The suspect, Akpobome Samuel, strangled his 58-year-old mother, Gift Samuel, and had sex with her lifeless body with the expectation that money would gush out in the process.

The victims mothers, Maria Gabriel, reportedly discovered the ugly incident when she went to her daughter’s residence about 6 a.m. to invite her to a nearby church for morning prayer. Consequently, the killer(son), Samuel, was said to have swiftly opened the door and attempted to escape but was held by neighbours who handed him over to the police at Ologbo.

Police investigators recovered semen-stained pants belonging to the suspect and his late mother from the room as exhibits. When being paraded, Samuel said: “I wanted to use my mother for ritual. I am 18 years old. My father is dead.

It was one man called ‘One Love’ that told me to use my mother for money ritual. He promised to give me N50,000 if I killed my mother and sleep with her. He said I should cut my mother’s ear and fingers and bring them to him. I wanted to cut the ears and fingers before the people came in. I slept with my mother only once. I pressed my mother’s neck to kill her while she was sleeping.

The One Love sells drugs. He put something inside the drink he gave me and he told me to go and kill my mother. The day I went to his house with policemen, the man had run away. I hail from Oghara. I work in a pure water factory. I now feel very bad because I was beaten badly by people.

 I did what the ritualist told me. The native doctor told me to kill my mother and sleep with her corpse, but he did not tell me the number of days to sleep with her. He told me to keep her dead body inside the room for two days but I was caught when I could no longer keep it. My mother did not offend me. I killed her because of the money.”
